Asia-Pacific Forum on Science and Technology Park

Development of science, technology and innovation is critical to future economic growth. Initiatives such as science and technology parks which provide enabling infrastructure and bring together key stakeholders such as entrepreneurs, researchers and investors often bring positive impacts on the development and commercialization of innovative solutions.

Building the Innovation and Technological Capacities of Least Developed Countries in Asia and the Pacific

The meeting will discuss the opportunities and needs of LDCs in the Asia and the Pacific region in the area of invention, innovation and technological capacity building and the intellectual property rights system. The program will provide a platform to assess the policy, technical and institutional needs in the area of intellectual property rights of individual LDCs. The meeting will also discuss how countries can leverage, through national, regional and sub-regional partnerships, WIPO’s and United Nations ESCAP’s expertise and institutional capacity.

Regional Consultation on eCommerce for Sustainable Development

This consultation meeting will provide an overview of emerging challenges and opportunities in the fields of digital economy and ecommerce, and outline policy imperatives on these agendas for SDG progress. Participants include government officials and other policymakers, private sector representatives and researchers.

UNESCAP - British Council Policy Dialogue on Social Enterprise and Social Impact Investment

On 27th February 2017, The British Council and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) signed a collaborative agreement to promote the growth of social enterprise and social impact investment across the Asia-Pacific region as a means of supporting progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Urban Innovation Challenge: Citypreneurs

The "Urban Innovation Challenge: Citypreneurs" is a city-based start-up competition for young entrepreneurs and start-ups worldwide to seek solutions to urban problems towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Co-hosted by ESCAP, WFUNA, Seoul Metropolitan Government and organized by Seoul Digital Foundation, the competition was held from 19-20 September in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

International Innovation Fair 2017 and International Workshop on “Supporting Innovative Entrepreneurs and Role of Technology Transfer”

APCTT in partnership with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, India and Indian Innovators Association co-organized the International Innovation Fair during 9 -11 September 2017 in Vishakhapatnam, India. The International Innovation Fair provided a platform to showcase innovative technologies developed by public R&D institutions, non-for-profit organizations, grassroots innovators, incubated companies and entrepreneurs from over 20 countries across the world.

Regional Consultation on Innovation Strategies for Sustainable Development through Water-Energy-Food Nexus

APCTT in cooperation with Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOST) of the Royal Thai Government organised a Regional Consultation on Innovation Strategies for Sustainable Development through Water-Energy-Food Nexus from 28-29 June 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand.This regional consultation strengthened the capacities of countries in the Asia-Pacific region to meet the developmental challenges related to water, energy and food security.

International Workshop on Science, Technology, Innovation and Management for Water Sustainability

APCTT in partnership with the National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS) of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India has organised International Workshop on Science, Technology, Innovation and Management for Water Sustainability from 19 to 20 April 2017 in New Delhi, India. The workshop evaluated the accessibility, effectiveness, cost and maintenance of these technological solutions for wide spread use.
