Business has been a source of innovation and economic dynamism in the Asia-Pacific region. However, to meet the ambitions of the Sustainable Development Goals, innovative government policies that incentivize business to focus on creating social and environmental, as well as economic value, are urgently required. In response to this challenge, governments have been implementing policy measures to catalyze social enterprise, inclusive business and impact investing.

The consultation will be an opportunity to:

• Share national experiences – including effective practices and lessons learned – in promoting business innovation for inclusive and sustainable development focused on social enterprise, inclusive business and impact investing;
• Outline support required from United Nations ESCAP to move this agenda forward at a national level, including suggestions for expanding the proposed principles;
• Co-create ideas and put forward recommendations to United Nations ESCAP to advance this agenda regionally.
