Final National Consultation on Myanmar’s Draft Science, Technology and Innovation Policy
VIRTUAL MEETING, MYANMAR
October, 27th (Tuesday) at 2pm MMT
The co-creation of Myanmar’s STI Policy has been guided by the Department of Research and Innovation (DRI), Ministry of Education, with the support of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The endevour has engaged multiple stakeholders through training sessions, round table discussions and a broader national consultation.
As the process heads to its conclusion, representatives of Myanmar's National STI Council met with ESCAP and DRI to deliberate the finer details of the Draft STI Policy. The meeting was opened by H.E. Prof. Dr. Myo Thein Gyi, Union Minister for Education, and marked the culmination of months of collaborative efforts from multiple Ministries, universities and civil society organizations to design a policy that is aligned with the needs of the country, leaving no one behind.
"The final consultation meeting will assist [policymakers] to develop the national goals for the education in sciences, human resources for STI, research policy, innovation and entrepreneurship, and academy-industry cooperation. The draft STI Policy will be adjusted based on participants' comments and translated to Myanmar language by the end of the year.
