Demand-driven research and analysis on relevant trade & investment issues
Since its first publication in early 2005, ARTNeT has issued a total of 16 research-based books, 158 working papers, and 58 policy briefs and alerts. Recent working papers have focused on: non-tariff measures in ASEAN; the impacts of export processing zones on poverty reduction; and trade facilitation for small and medium enterprises. ARTNeT research outputs feed into regional policy debates and are reprinted in journals and technical reports.
ARTNeT and its members aim to produce high quality research and analysis on trade and investment related issues. In Phase II, the ARTNeT research programme developed in close consultation with research institutions and policy makers, emphasizes the implementation of regional multi-institutions research studies under the following themes:
- Trade, investment, and domestic policy coherence for inclusive growth;
- Trade Facilitation (TF) and Development of Related Services Sectors; and
- Multilateral Trade Liberalization and Regional integration.
Research dissemination through various platforms
ARTNeT research is efficiently disseminated by various means including a dedicated website facilitating more 300,000 publication downloads in 2013 alone, social media, and regular publications. More importantly, ARTNeT’s thematic multi-stakeholder consultative meetings provide research institutions and policymakers with an opportunity to exchange information and data, share ideas, and review and refine research findings and recommendations.
ARTNeT research as well as members' research is disseminated through various means, including a dedicated website, an online regional database of trade-related publications, a working paper and a policy brief series, a newsletter and other publications. More importantly, ARTNET thematic consultative meetings provide both the research institutions and policy makers with an opportunity to exchange information, share ideas, and review and refine research findings.
